How to have lovely lips all winter long
Many of us suffer from dry and chapped lips in winter. Even in Sydney, the winter air is less humid than the summer air so our lips can dry out and even become cracked and painful.
Drinking water and keeping hydrated will help you lips. I know… it’s winter, and water isn’t as appealing as in summer. But do try to drink at least a litre a day, or enjoy herbal teas or green teas instead if you long for a hot drink.
If your home or office is air-conditioned you may find a humidifier will help your lips (and your skin) look and feel good during the winter months.
Licking your lips to keep them moist is a no-no, particularly on windy days. The wind will dry out your lips even faster if they are wet to begin with.
Some lip balms, while initially making your lips feel smooth, can be quite waxy and exacerbate the problem, so do choose carefully when it comes to lip balms. The wonderful Papaya ointment is handy for chapped lips. Remember to reapply lip balm or Papaya Ointment before bed, too, so your lips can repair as you sleep.
